3D Leadership Training for the August 29th NonProfit Commons Meeting

This Friday, August 29th, TechSoup's NonProfit Commons in Second Life will feature Bruce Gross and a presentation on 3D Leadership Training in virtual environments and the proof of concept pilot project which was completed in July, 2014.

About Bruce Gross

Bruce is a 2012 graduate of the University of Washington Certificate in Virtual Words. Over the past 3 years he has been working on using 3D Environments, and has completed a successful proof of concept pilot test with 12 Teammates.

Prior to the pilot, Bruce had begun incorporating the 3D environments into his webinar presentations. Moving from a traditional PowerPoint format, he projected himself (his avatar) moving through a dynamic 3D environment with information and videos presented amid scenes that reinforced and/or portrayed important elements of the content. Feedback from attendees of these webinars indicated that, while participants still felt isolated from each other, many indicated a sense that they were present with Bruce as he moved through the environment. He now says he prevents “death by power point” in his webinars by using the 3D Environment.

Bruce collaborates on the development of training activities, 3D webinars and other immersive learning projects with Carla Kincaid-Yoshikawa – Founder & Managing Director of Training in the 21st Century™, who has worked as an Organization Development and Training Consultant for over 15 years. To view some of the activities they have developed, please use the following link to go to the location where most of their training and debrief sessions are held: http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Train%20T21C/77/76/733
