Immersive Learning made Interactive in SL for the April 6th NPC Meeting

Join us Friday, April 6th for the Nonprofit Commons in Second Life meeting, which will feature Laura Jeffcoat (Lowry Mills in Second Life) leading a tour of the Learn It Town sim and a chance to see how it is made interactive for students.

Laura Jeffcoat is the CEO of Learn It Town, a developer of Immersive learning for the Learn It Town team. They have the Learn It Town sim in Second Life and teach ESL learners from SKODA and other individuals and schools. Lowri is from Texas, living in Spain. She was a pioneer in immersive learning starting back in 2006 with Languagelab.com as a developer.

Learning from Mistakes for the March 30th NPC Meeting

Join us Friday, March 30th for the NonProfit Commons in Second Life meeting, which will feature Niela Miller (Marly Milena in Second Life) leading a discussion on mistakes. We all make them. Let's take a look at some of the usual and unusual ones and what we can learn from them, and lessons we HAVE learned, both in our personal and our work lives.

Please come to the meeting with a short example on a notecard of a mistake you have made, and what you learned from it. We will share these at the session.

Gloria's current project with the Brain Energy Support Team (BEST) gives her an even greater opportunity to blend real-life situations with Second Life experiences that raise awareness, model healthy living skills, and provide educational opportunities for individuals, professionals, classrooms, and businesses within, and outside of, the brain injury community. Understanding the General Data Protection Regulations for March 9th Nonprofit Commons Meeting

Please join us this Friday, March 9th for a discussion on the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) which are EU laws going into effect in May, designed to make sure people have control over their personal information and what it is being used for. The laws cover how people are informed of how the data is used, how they consent to its use (or limit use), the right to “be forgotten”, to export their data, and to seek damages if they suffer from misuse or breach of their data.

NPC Brainstorm: using technology to connect people to the arts for the March 2 Nonprofit Commons Meeting

Join us Friday, March 2nd for the NonProfit Commons in Second Life meeting will feature a brainstorm session on using technology to connect people to the arts. The Knight Foundation opened up a grant call last month looking for individuals and organizations to submit ideas on how technology can be used to connect people to the arts. For those selected, these ideas would be prototyped and shared.
