From November 4-5, there will be a two-day Fundraiser to Fight AIDS and Poverty in Africa The event will feature several musical acts, a huge art exhibit and silent auction. All donations and proceeds will go to the ONE Campaign and other charities. At Africa (click here to teleport.)

***I DON'T RECOMMEND THIS PLACE*** It's a beautiful place but be prepared to be griefed by escorts, vampire bites, weapons being shot at you etc. The sim owner doesn't care and has banned me from the sim...his first question was whether or not i had given him a donation to his sim which has nothing to do with griefing and leads me to believe that he doesn't really donate the money to any cause other than his own. His only reason for banning me is for complaining when I was griefed. His staff is less than helpful too and the owner doesn't come online enough to clean this place up.

I visited, and it was pretty hopping when I was there, with about 22 avatars dancing at a dance party. I was a little disappointed in the lack of information and visual cues and links to Africa. It could have been a disco anywhere inworld, but I was hoping to be able to walk through a village with a tour guide expert on Africa. In any case, they has raised about 90,000 Lindens for poverty and AIDS when I was there. After I donated, I found myself wondering who will be sending the money to Africa and through which charity. I would like to know what happens with in-world Fundraising after the money is paid to the account who is accepting it.
