Virtual Worlds, Disability and New Cultures of the Embodied Self for June 22 Nonprofit Commons Meeting

Join us Friday, June 22nd for the Nonprofit Commons in Second Life meeting, featuring Donna Davis and Tom Boellstorff presenting on their "Virtual Worlds, Disability, and New Cultures of the Embodied Self" research project. The researchers launched the community “Ethnographia" three years ago, creating a safe space for qualitative discussion, and therefore real research, on the individual experiences of anyone in Second Life who identifies, or is identified as, “disabled.” The research is supported by the University of California, Irvine; the University of Oregon; and a grant from the National Science Foundation (Cultural Anthropology and Science, Technology, and Society).
