Nonprofits are finding that one of the major benefits of Second Life work is alliance building. I had the pleasure of attending Monday's panel on virtual world partnerships and collaborations.

In keeping with our mission of improving communities by the application of knowledge, which unleashes the power of nonprofits, foundation, and individuals, the Dorothy A. Johnson Center for Philanthropy and Nonprofit Leadership (http://www.johnsoncenter.org) at Grand Valley State University (http://www.gvsu.edu) is offering Avatar on Duty service (AvOD) to the Philanthropic community in Second Life. We will have various Avatars available to answer specific questions related to effective philanthropy and nonprofit leadership.

On Monday, November 17, from 3-5PM PST, come to the first virtual conference sponsored by RezEd.org, the social network for virtual world educators, taking place in the Justice Center (click here to teleport). The event will feature a panel discussion of leading educators and researchers working in virtual world education, a "birds of a feather" breakout session, and social mixer for letting our virtual hair down!

SL Celebration of Human Rights - Dec. 10

As you may have heard there is going to be a Festival in SL celebrating Human Rights starting 10 December. It´s 60 years since the UN launched the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

We have started now to organize the festival. How big it will be depends on how many events, concerts & exhibitions YOU send us.

We hope that you all think this is important and will help us to make this Festival a successful one.

A travel HUD will take people to different locations in SL with exhibitions, concerts and events promoting human rights issues. There will also be a website.
